Long overdue makeover for Harbor Park in Wilmington has begun!

Councilman Buscaino is very pleased to announce a $2.2 million makeover for Harbor Park in Wilmington where hundreds of athletes participate in Wilmington Youth Football.

“I made a promise to Wilmington Youth Football during my campaign last year. It took ten months, but we figured out how to fund the upgrade,” said Buscaino. “We owe it to these kids to keep them motivated and focused,” he said.

Buscaino worked with the Department of Rec & Parks to find $1 million, while a pending Prop K grant will account for the additional $1.2 million in funding.

The project which started last week, will be completed in two phases.

Phase One will see the complete scraping of the entire field and the building of three grass fields, one softball field and a bathroom. Phase One also includes new walking paths, fencing, water fountains and resurfacing the parking lot.

Phase Two will see the conversion of one of the fields into an artificial turf field.

Councilman Buscaino will also work with the Greater LA County Vector Control District to abate the mosquito problem at the park.
