COUNCILMAN BUSCAINO ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES IN HIS DISTRICT
Councilman Buscaino has been working with the LAPD and the City Attorney to close down illegal medical marijuana dispensaries in his district. Above is a list of the most recent closures. "I am as equally frustrated as many residents with the proliferation of these shops and am taking necessary steps towards their closure. I urge the public to notify my office when new locations open or if any of these reopen," said Buscaino.
Under Measure D there are 134 legal dispensaries in Los Angeles. The City Attorney's office has closed down over 400 illegal dispensaries city wide and will continue its diligent work. There are more shops to close and Councilman Buscaino expects to update this list of closures in the future.
"While I understand that there are residents that are on both sides of the issue and that there are people who truly necessitate this as a medicine, my position comes from the fact that the voters of Los Angeles allowed the compassionate care act to be enacted and then voted to limit the number of shops and the distance from they can be from schools and daycare centers," said Buscaino.
"Illegal dispensaries blatantly disregard the guidelines that were set in place by the city and it's voters. I am not in favor of a city with a weed shop on every block," he said.
