Councilman Joe Buscaino and Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal are pleased to announce the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will repave Western Avenue (SR-213) between 19th Street and Avenida Aprenda with rubberized asphalt.
“I’m excited to kickoff this repaving project, and thank Assemblymember Lowenthal for making it happen,” Buscaino said. “The use of rubberized asphalt not only reduces maintenance costs, but also provides a smoother and quieter ride.”
“We have to keep people moving. The economy is picking up and the wheels need to keep rolling,” said Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, a Democrat from Long Beach who chairs the powerful Assembly Transportation Committee.
This project will require the nightly closure of one lane of SR-213 in both directions between 25th Street and Avenida Aprenda. Beginning Monday, October 8, work will take place Mondays through Fridays, between 7 PM to 6 AM the following mornings.
All American Asphalt of Corona, Calif.is the contractor on this $1.2 million project.
This project is expected to be completed by mid-November 2012
